Main Event, a family-fun entertainment center chain owned by Dave & Buster’s, will be moving into a large property at the center of Downtown Brea. As reported by BreaNOW, the company received city approval to move forward with the project at 245 W Birch St.
Last week, the Brea Planning Commission unanimously approved the corporation’s plans to turn a long-empty movie theater building into a warehouse of activities for all ages. It’s previously housed Regal Edwards West, but that business closed in 2019. The entertainment facility will reportedly open in 2026.
The venue will bring a mix of attractions, including bowling, laser tag, 120+ arcade games, and a full-service restaurant and bar. Records show the company applied for a liquor license from the state in early April, which is still marked as pending approval. For food, Main Event centers have comfort meals such as burgers, nachos, fried pickles, and mozzarella sticks.
Founded in 1998 in Texas, Main Event has grown to more than 55 locations across 17 states, with the Brea site set to join its growing West Coast presence. The most recent California opening was in Montclair, which debuted in January, PR Newswire wrote. In 2022, Main Event was acquired by Dave & Buster’s Entertainment, Inc.
The company did not return requests for comment made by the publication.
