Cocina 214, a Mexican restaurant in Winter Park, will close later this month. After more than a decade in business, the restaurant is closing as its lease nears expiration. The last day of service will be May 29, 2026.
Cocina 214 Announces Closure After 15 Years
On May 18, the Cocina 214 team took to Facebook, announcing the closure of the restaurant. Located at 151 E Welbourne Ave, the restaurant has served Tex-Mex dishes for the last 15 years. The restaurant’s lease ends on June 1, 2026, though its final day of service will be May 29.
Last year, rumors circulated about a potential closure, which the restaurant addressed by stating that the landlord had decided to sell the building but that operations would continue at the time.
This February, the landlord sold the building for $5.9 million. The buyer was Karen’s Garage LLC, according to Orlando Business Journal. No specific redevelopment or restaurant concept details have been publicly disclosed by Karen’s Garage LLC.
The post noted that new owners will move forward with their own concept at the location. The Cocina 214 team explored locations to relocate, but could not find a suitable new site.
The team called it a difficult decision. They also said they are overwhelmed with gratitude. The post read, “What started as a dream in 2011 became something far greater than we ever imagined because of our great customers, employees, vendors, neighbors, and overall community.”
15 Years of Tex-Mex in the Heart of Winter Park
Cocina 214 has been known for years for its modern Mexican and Tex-Mex specials. The restaurant’s menu features bold flavors and staples, including tacos, fajitas, queso, and margaritas.
Cocina 214 also offers private dining and catering options. The restaurant also hosts happy hour specials, brunch gatherings, and community-focused events. Cinco de Mayo and the 15th anniversary were the recent events celebrated at the restaurant.
