According to recent public records, a new independent seafood establishment and market is soon coming to New Smyrna Beach. Pickett’s Seafood, run by Matthew Pickett, will soon come to 601 E 3rd Ave.

“It’s going to be very similar to the previous Ocean’s Seafood,” Mr. Pickett tells What Now Orlando.

“Fast-casual and simple to start out. The main staples will be fish sandwiches, fish tacos, fried, grilled or blackened fish baskets.”

Apart from serving as a full-serve restaurant, Mr. Pickett enthuses about the establishment’s dual role as a fresh market.

“I’m going to my best to support as many local fishermen as possible. I myself was a commercial fisherman for 15 years, so I do understand the struggle. But we will also sourcing some fish from regional vendors,” he says, adding that he has also worked as an engineer on large shipping vessels, underscoring his long-standing relationship with the sea.

At the market, locals can expect shrimp, blue crab, flounder, snapper, grouper and swordfish, among others.

So when can readers expect this exciting new establishment to open?
