Growing Latin American cafe Mecatos will be opening a new Orlando location at 5645 Hansel Avenue, according to recent public records.

“I liked the brand, the food, the quality control and their evolution over the past six years. I really believe in the brand, so that’s the main reason I decided to franchise with them,” franchisee Nelson Lerma tells What Now Orlando.

For readers unfamiliar with the brand, Mr. Lerma recommends “some of the delicious, beautiful pastries, or the croissants, or the arepas stuffed with chicken, eggs, cheese and avocado. And, of course, the coffee which gets exported straight from Colombia.”

Regarding the store’s future in the area, Mr. Lerma emphasizes he’d like to own more Mecatos in the future.

“The idea is to get one or two more after this. But the brand will expand, regardless of me.”

As Mr. Lerma and his team juggle the many pre-opening variables, they project to open in early December at the latest.
