A recent inspection spotted several health code violations at this seafood restaurant. The on-site inspector noted the violations, with the major being a rodent infestation. Rodent activity was visible with physical evidence of mice droppings in the prep, storage, and waitress station areas. Proper cleaning is required in these areas.
The report first notes the absence of a certified food safety manager, followed by several unsanitary practices. It then notes down various unsanitary practices in the facility. These include:
- The prep area handwash sink was inaccessible as a prep table blocked the way
- In the prep area, there was an empty paper towel dispenser, and both the paper towel and soap dispensers were out of service
- The food employees were either not wearing hair restraints or were wearing ineffective hair restraints
- Moist wiping cloths were lying on the prep table instead of being stored in sanitizing solution
- Single-use disposable bowls were not inverted or covered, making them susceptible to contamination
- The cutting board had deep scratches and scoring, which do not allow for effective cleaning and sanitizing
- Cleaning of the walk-in cooler and freezer floor is needed
- Ice was accumulating inside the chest freezer in the storage area
- The warewash area’s handwash sink had a broken and disconnected pipe
- Improper storage of the broom and dustpan.

Joe’s Steak & Soda Shop

The on-site inspector noted several health code violations at this cheesesteak restaurant. Most violations were related to unsanitary conditions, with some citing rodent activity. The inspector documents mouse droppings spotted in the basement stairs and storage areas.
Other violations noted by the inspector are as follows:
- The cutting board had several deep scratches and scoring, which made it difficult to clean and sanitize
- Grease and food debris were on the shelving surfaces in the front kitchen area. In the rear prep area, there was food debris and stains in several locations. It was on the lower shelving of the prep counters and the reach-in refrigerator
- Grease and food debris were on the floor in the front kitchen area and the basement storage area
- There was rust on the shelving racks in the side server prep station near the exit door
- Debris and dust were on the floor and ceiling vents of the employee and public restrooms
- Improper storage of the broom when not in use
- Basement storage was cluttered with boxes, making cleaning difficult.

Punch Buggy Brewing Company

The recent inspection of this brewery documented several health code violations. Improper storage of temperature-controlled food was among the violations. The refrigerator in the kitchen area was not operating properly, which resulted in this violation. The inspector also found the person in charge unavailable during the time of inspection.
Apart from this, several sanitary violations were also noted, and are as follows:
- Many utensils and equipment were present in the bar area’s handwashing sink. This sink was also not easily accessible as it was blocked by a mini-refrigerator. This sink also did not have paper towels available at the time of inspection
- The handwashing soap container in the kitchen area was used to store chemicals taken from bulk supplies
- There was a puddle of water on the floor of the walk-in cooler
- In the kitchen area, food debris and grease were found underneath the cooking equipment. It was also found on the shelving surfaces inside the reach-in refrigerator
- The bar, utility closet, and kitchen area floors had slight debris
- Cleaning tools were not stored in designated areas.
