The handwashing stations lacked posted reminders for staff to wash their hands. The person in charge (PIC) put up a handwashing reminder sign towards the end of the inspection.

Uncovered food items, including pork and shrimp, were seen stored inside the cold holding prep table. The items were covered by the PIC. Raw meat items incorrectly stored together were properly segregated after inspection.

The ice machine’s bin interior contained noticeable slime and residue. The ice and ice machine were prohibited from use until thoroughly sanitized. The accumulated residue on the can opener was cleaned on-site during the inspection.

Pork, cheese, and similar food items were being held in the under-counter refrigerator at a temperature higher than the recommended 41°F or lower. Inspectors reported that the facility’s temperature-monitoring device was not operational.

The lower shelves at the coffee station area had mouse droppings. Other key areas at the venue showing mouse activity included the dry storage area and the rear prep area. The handle on the reach-in refrigerator was observed to be inoperative.

The storage racks showed rust, while the shelves in the kitchen had traces of accumulated debris and grease. The storage area in the basement had shelves covered with rust, dust, and stains. The floor tiles in the utensil washing area were found to be damaged.

Other issues noted by the inspectors were regarding the lack of general upkeep at the facility. This included evidence of dust, stains, and debris as seen in several prominent sections of the premises. The full health inspection report can be accessed here.

Follow-up Inspection

Inspectors informed the staff that the facility was not in compliance. They are required to address all violations listed in the inspection report.
