After the facility is found compliant, it can resume operations.

Please note that the report mentioned here is from a particular inspection conducted on July 29 and may not represent the future health inspection status of the establishment.

The facility lacked a certified food safety handler on-site at the time of inspection, as required by regulations. Cakes kept for self-service were not properly labeled with product details. The items were discarded by the person in charge (PIC).

The inspectors noted that several food items stored in the chest freezer were uncovered. Items such as sauce, cheese, and chicken stored in the reach-in refrigerator were missing dates. The walk-in cooler and reach-in refrigerator had no functional temperature measuring devices required to monitor equipment temperatures.

Inspectors reported insect activity, including houseflies, inside the facility. The establishment was using glue strips as an insect control device in the cooking and ware-washing area. The strips were removed as they could potentially contaminate food, equipment, and utensils.

Beverages and produce were placed directly on the floor of the walk-in cooler. Inspectors noted a buildup of debris inside the chest freezers. Clean utensils were improperly stored in the garbage disposal sink, violating sanitation standards.

Walls and floors in the guest restroom were visibly dirty. A hole was observed on the wall located next to the garbage grinder sink. Dust was present on the walls and ceiling of the preparation area. The mop was not elevated to allow proper air drying.

Standing water was observed on the basement floor. The inspectors found that the establishment was involved in the unauthorized sale of tobacco products without a valid Philadelphia Tobacco Retailer Permit. The inspection report can be seen here.

Follow-Up Inspection

Torresdale Pizza & Beer was not in compliance with the city health codes. The violations must be corrected before the restaurant can reopen. A follow‑up inspection will determine if the facility has achieved updated compliance.

The establishment agreed to cease food handling and voluntarily close, pending department approval to reopen. The facility must contact the health inspector once the violations have been addressed.

A current food license is required for a food facility to operate. Since the same was not provided during the inspection, the facility may reach out to the Department of Licenses and Inspections (L + I) for renewal. Once the inspection is passed, the Department of Public Health will issue a License Eligibility Report.

Failure to correct violations will result in revocation of the health license by the department. The health department may pursue legal action if the violations remain unresolved.
