Hajimaru Ramen in Philadelphia was inspected by the health department on November 18. Multiple violations were found during the inspection. The restaurant is now expected to address all violations before reinspection.

Hajimaru Ramen is a go-to place for people to find comfort ramen bowls in Philadelphia. According to the inspection report, the following violations were noted:
- The Food Employee did not follow proper handwashing procedure. According to the report, the inspector observed a food employee touching their personal cellphone with gloves on and continued to touch food prep equipment and food items without washing their hands and changing gloves.
- Observed that the water turned off at the handwashing sink in the food prep area.
- Pink and yellow slime was observed on the interior of the ice machine bin in the basement storage area. The Sanitarian advised PIC to discard the ice and discontinue use of the ice machine until it can be properly sanitized during the inspection.
- Several potentially hazardous, ready-to-eat foods, prepared in the food facility and held for more than 48 hours, located in the under-counter and cold-holding prep units, were not date-marked.
- Observed gaps in the basement trap door, which is an outer opening in the facility, and does not protect against the entry of insects, rodents, and other animals.
- The facility had evidence of rodent activity in the basement storage areas.
- The report noted that there was grease and residue on the exterior surfaces of the cooking equipment in the food prep area.

- During the inspection, dead mice, mouse droppings, and debris were observed in the facility.
- Hood filters had an accumulation of static dust, as per the report.

Follow-Up Inspection

The report stated that the establishment was not in satisfactory condition. The restaurant needs to implement corrective action, as the compliance status will be assessed upon re-inspection.
