A beloved New York tapas restaurant is bringing Spanish flavors to Rittenhouse Square.

The  Philadelphia Inquirer reports that restaurateur Yann de Rochefort has plans to open a Boqueria restaurant at 1608 Sansom Street in 2024.

The tapas restaurant will occupy 4,500 square feet in an apartment tower currently under construction. The space will accommodate 120 seats.

While the precise opening date is unclear, the building will be open to occupants in March of 2024.

The first Boqueria, located in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood, opened in 2006 to wide acclaim. Boqueria’s initial success led to three more New York locations. The tapas restaurant has spread to two Washington D.C. establishments, one Chicago facility, and another in Nashville.

De Rochefort explains why he waited to open a Philadelphia location, stating “I hadn’t found any great spots. I really took my time to find a spot that I thought would work well.”

The Rittenhouse Square location is worth the wait. The area houses many successful establishments and draws plenty of foot traffic.

In addition to the restaurant’s inaugural Philadelphia home, de Rochefort plans to open Boquerias in Boston and Atlanta.

Though each Boqueria location slightly varies its menu, every restaurant offers a wide array of tapas. The establishment serves weekend brunch, complete with a specific brunch cocktail list. Boqueria’s bar features a collection of signature cocktails, an impressive wine list, and traditional Spanish spirits and mixed drinks.
