A health-focused eatery is preparing to open in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood this spring.
Vita Sana, meaning “healthy life” in Italian, will open at 2319 Walnut St. The shop’s tagline is “We bring you fast, refreshing nourishment without compromise.”
“When I came to Philadelphia, I realized to get a fresh salad or to get a smoothie, there wasn’t much in the area. There was a total need for it. My partners and I are very passionate about a healthy lifestyle and being able to grab things on the go,” managing partner Britney Stein told What Now Philadelphia.
Vita Sana will focus on serving made-from-scratch smoothies, juices and açaí bowls with real fruit, along with salads, sandwiches, wraps and rice bowls with a Mediterranean-style twist.

They will also offer an all-day breakfast menu, featuring “The Philly Toast,” toasted sourdough with whipped Philadelphia cream cheese, smoked salmon, thinly sliced red onion and dill; the “Everyday Veggie Omelet,” made with pasture-raised eggs, spinach, mozzarella, grilled portobello, chopped bell peppers and diced tomato; and a “Classic Egg Sandwich” doctored with sliced avocado, arugula, tomatoes and Vita Sana sauce.
For those in need of a caffeine fix, Vita Sana plans to serve coffee sourced from Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co., a Florida-based roaster that has been around since 1984.
“A lot of people are fans of Joffrey’s. You know them if you’re down in the Orlando area, they do Disney’s Coffee,” Stein said. “The coffee pairs well with everything we offer.”
Stein said they plan to collaborate with local businesses and gyms by carrying products like juices and juice cleanses.
The shop’s interior and exterior will feature a fresh, modern vibe, designed by John Sofio of Built Inc. Sofio is recognized for his work on high-profile California venues, including Bootsy Bellows, Poppy, 1Oak and Delilah.
“He really, really does nice work, and we were able to use him for this project, which is awesome. It looks beautiful, with a lot of gold accents,” she said.
Stein is eager for her and her team to become part of the community and connect with like-minded people who value nutrition.
“I think getting into the industry and meeting new people in our neighborhood, and collaborating with a lot of other local businesses, whether it be through health events or catering, is what I’m excited about,” Stein said.
In the future, the team hopes to expand to other parts of the city to make healthy food more accessible. For now, Vita Sana is planning a March opening. Visit their website and follow them on Instagram for updates.
