Nick Vouras is moving his beloved pizzas out of the family restaurant and into their own brick and mortar storefront. Vouras will be opening Nick’s Pizza at 1903 Newport Gap Pike this fall, reports media outlet Delaware Online.

Nick’s Pizza will be taking over the building that previously housed Casapulla’s Catering.

Vouras began making and selling pizzas out of his family’s restaurant, Kozy Korner, in 2021. His Detroit-style square pizzas and tomato pies quickly became Wilmington favorites.

Vouras’s pizzas are currently available for takeout at Kozy Korner, Fridays through Sundays. Vouras also sells pizzas and cheesesteaks out of Mulrooney’s Tavern on Thursdays. Customers place their orders by texting Vouras’s personal cellphone number or contacting him through Instagram.

Vouras intends to phase out this ordering technique with the opening of Nick’s Pizza, though for the immediate future the establishment will be take-out only. The establishment is truly Vouras’s passion project and he will be functionally running it on his own.

All of Vouras’s pizza dough is handmade.

Vouras truly knows his pies, having studied the pizza arts extensively both at home and abroad. The chef visited and sampled the products of multitudinous east coast pizza parlors and tasted authentic Italian pizza in Rome. He used these experiences and his accumulated knowledge to craft his pizzas, which have become huge draws to Kozy Korner.

Vouras’s operation has outgrown the limits of the Kozy Korner kitchen. His new facility will feature a high-quality pizza oven capable of reaching heats of up to 900 degrees.

Nick’s Pizza will serve Detroit style pizzas, tomato pies, round pizzas and pizza al taglio, chicken cheesesteaks, and sandwiches made with homemade focaccia.

Vouras will continue making and selling pizzas out of Kozy Korner and Mulrooney’s leading up to the opening of his new shop.
