AP Rooftop, the latest concept from prolific restaurateur Tim Mcloone, is preparing to offer beach revelers and boardwalk aficionados the ultimate night out. The restaurant, featuring superior cocktails with an ocean view, will be opening its doors in June.

As the name suggests, AP Rooftop will be opening on the top floor of the Fifth Avenue Pavillion, located at 1200 Ocean Avenue, providing guests with a sweeping view of the nearby waves and sand.

Mcloone has several concepts in the building and wanted to create something new and distinctive with AP Rooftop. The entrepreneur tells What Now Philadelphia: “Since we have three other restaurants in the same pavilion we wanted to make sure we differentiated it. We wanted to make it more of a meeting space.”

Mcloone feels confident that the unique setting will draw crowds. “We’re on the third floor with a panoramic ocean view-if we screw this up, I’m a genius.” he laughs.

While diners are certainly welcome to AP Rooftop, Mcloone believes the spot will appeal to guests seeking a place to relax and enjoy a beverage and the view. “It’s for people who want to meet there and have a drink, and they can decide if they want to stay and have a more substantial dining experience. Capacity is about 200 people. It’s going to be a very interesting floor plan.”

Mcloone and his company have also leased the attached bandshell, which lends its name to the new concept.  “If you come out our doors, there’s a bandshell immediately attached to it called the AP bandshell, named after a famous musician named Arthur Pryor, so we decided to keep the AP-it’s the AP Rooftop attached to the AP bandshell.”

Future regulars can mark their calendars for about a month from now, when Mcloone hopes to open AP Rooftop’s doors.
