A building with a long and storied history is preparing to start another chapter as a brand new restaurant concept. Helmed by restaurateurs Philip and Kate Ferro, the Augustine Tavern will be opening later this year, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The eatery will be opening in the 210 year old building at 1919 St. Augustine Beach Road this fall. The space previously housed the Augustine Inn Seafood & Chop House, which the Ferros operated for a period, before it fell under new ownership before closing earlier this year.

The incredibly spacious inn clocks in at 7,000 square feet and three floors. Once open, the establishment will have seating for about 200 guests on the first floor.

The Augustine Tavern will follow the model the Ferros have established for their other “tavern” brand restaurants, including Main Line Tavern, Chadds Ford Tavern, and Kings Tavern. Future diners can anticipate elevated interpretations of pub favorites, ranging from crabcakes to fried chicken, as well as sophisticated dishes like the Faroe Island salmon and shrimp.

While an official opening date is not yet available, Philip Ferro confirmed with What Now Philadelphia that he is shooting to begin greeting guests the first week in November.
