The second outpost will be slightly different from its flagship predecessor in that there won’t be a full-service restaurant, but there will be a meeting space complete with a projector as well as two floors for students and business professionals alike.

Cake & Joe, the specialty baker and daytime eatery that’s coming up on its second anniversary, is set to open another location at 2012 Frankford Ave in Fishtown early next year, according to co-owner Sarah Qi.

However, whereas Cake & Joe’s flagship outpost features a kitchen and full-service restaurant, the new spot will function more as a traditional cafe with two floors for working and studying, as well as a basement space that will be converted into a meeting room, complete with a projector.

Meanwhile, its menu will feature the brand’s signature cakes and pastries, served alongside specialty coffees courtesy of Elixir coffee as well as sandwiches prepared in-house by Chef Sophia Morris.

Needless to say, the overall vibe will be a bit different, but Qi and co-owner Trista Tang are no less excited, saying in a statement published by the Philadelphia Business Journal, “We’ve had a very successful two years, and now we’re looking forward to serving a neighborhood where the restaurant scene is one of the most popular this city has ever seen.”
