Decorated Chef Jose Garces recently announced that Garces Restaurant Group will be opening a second incarnation of the celebrated Spanish tapas concept, Amada, early next year on the Main Line at 555 E. Lancaster Ave in Radnor.
It marks a return to form for the James Beard Award winner and Iron Chef, whose roots as a solo restaurateur can be traced back to the original Amada that opened in Philadelphia’s Old City in 2005.
According to a press release provided to What Now Philadelphia, the new outpost “will feature an expanded selection of Amada’s signature Spanish tapas, Cochinillo Asado, and Paella Valencia,” as well as exclusive dishes thanks to Radnor’s unique “on-site wood fired oven.”
Additionally, Amada Radnor will be housed in a 7,000-square-foot space with indoor dining and two outdoor patios for 200-plus people, alongside a 45-seat private dining room and a 25-seat bar that will be pouring more than 100 selections “from both popular and emerging regions” in Spain, “plus cocktails inspired by Spanish ingredients and Red and White Sangria.”
The restaurant’s namesake is Chef’s grandmother, “who ignited Garces’s love for the kitchen at a young age.”
In a statement, Chef Garces explained, “Amada is near and dear to my heart. It was the very first restaurant I opened when I went out on my own in 2005,” adding, “We have so many Garces fans from over the years come join us in Old City, and now we are bringing the concept right to them in their own backyards.”
