A popular Poconos brewery is shifting its gaze southerly, with plans to bring delicious libations and tasty pub fare to the Lehigh Valley. Barley Creek Brewing Company is lending its full menu to the Promenade Saucon Valley shopping center later this year, reports local media outlet Saucon Source.
The concept-which has an existing location open and operating in Tannersville-is moving into a 3,119 square foot storefront in the 2845 Center Valley Parkway lifestyle center. Barley Creek Brewing intends to bring a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to its new home when it opens this summer.
Barley Creek Brewing co-founder Trip Ruvane explains that the brand anticipates a warm welcome to the Center Valley dining scene, where it has an already established and built-in customer base. He states: “Barley Creek has had a great relationship with guests in the Lehigh Valley for nearly 30 years. We have many regulars who drive up to visit our Pocono Mountain locations, as well as those who buy our craft brews, spirits, and ready-to-drink cocktails at fine establishments all across Northeast PA, including at nearby Coca Cola Park. And now we’re thrilled to be bringing our newest Taproom to this truly beautiful and unique setting at Promenade Saucon Valley.”
Barley Creek’s impact will not be limited to its own immediate space. The tavern will participate in a program called Sip & Shop which invites the over-21 crowd to indulge in an adult beverage as they browse through the shopping center. A press release explains that the brewery’s involvement will allow the distinctive institution to expand its reach, saying: “Traditional Sip & Shop opportunities have been limited to special events, like Girls Night Out on Saturday May 3rd and Party at the Patio which kicks off on June 4th. Now, with the addition of Barley Creek Taproom, guests will be able to Sip & Shop year round.”
Barley Creek has proven to be a small but mighty presence in the Poconos-far more than just a brewery, the ambitious company-that-can has its fingers in many pots and a sense of humor firmly intact. The Barley Creek website offers this insight into the scope of its accomplishments since its 1995 debut: “Since then, we’ve brewed more than 100 different styles of beer, opened a small-batch distillery for vodka, whiskey, rum and other spirits, served up eleventy-billion French fries, invented Firkin Curling, struck out Chase Utley at the Pint Size Park, won a bunch of awards, and hung out with tons of really cool people.”
