On Monday, Sep 26, representatives of the create-your-own Mexican food juggernaut, Chipotle, met with the Barrington Joint Land Use Board, hoping to get approval for a new location at 241 White Horse Pike.
A representative of Chipotle was not immediately available to comment on the results of the meeting.
The proposed site was formerly Time Out Sports Bar and Grill, which closed around May 2021. According to local media outlet 42 Freeway, which viewed public notice listings for the proposal, “it appears that the Chipotle development will be focused only on the bar and parking areas,” and that “no additional home lots will be taken.”
Founded in Denver, CO in 1993, Chipotle has all but disrupted the traditional quick-service model in recent years, spawning a new generation of create-your-own restaurants across just about every culinary tradition imaginable, from salads and poke bowls to pizza and bibimbap.
Today, the company operates some 3,000 locations across the US, all of which are corporate-owned.
