Popular local coffee chain, Denim Coffee, is coming to Mechanicsburg this summer reports media outlet,  Penn Live. Denim will be taking over the spot vacated by Capital Joe Coffee, located at 36 West Main Street.

Denim Coffee currently has two locations in Carlisle and additional stores in Chambersburg and Harrisburg.

Denim Coffee owner Matt Ramsay spoke to What Now Philadelphia about opening the store’s fifth location and replacing a beloved cafe, stating “We knew  Capital Joe closing would leave a hole in the community. We hope to help fill that hole.”

While the Main Street building maintains the same layout developed for Capital Joe, Ramsay and company have made some updates. “We painted and rebuilt the bar, but the bulk of the layout is the same” Ramsay says.

Denim is hoping to open in early June. The cafe is currently awaiting equipment and in the process of hiring and training staff.

Denim’s Mechanicsburg location will share the same menu as the existent shops, including a full espresso bar, all-day breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, and fresh-fruit smoothies.

Ramsay has already built connections with local merchants. “We have a local honey supplier” he says, “and we get our kombucha from a Chambersburg company called Undone.”

Denim’s Mechanicsburg location pushes the company closer to its goal of ten shops. Ramsay explains that ten shops will make it possible to buy directly from coffee farmers, a more sustainable and ethical bean-sourcing practice.

Denim will provide customers with a welcoming atmosphere and a superior product. Ramsay states “People are looking for a good cup of coffee, and we will meet that need.”
