A Douglassville bank building is getting a second life serving fast-casual Mexican cuisine to hungry locals. Construction has begun on a new Chipotle near the Douglassville Shopping Center.

The Mexican juggernaut will be taking over the building vacated by Santander bank, located at 15 Maple Wood Drive. According to permits posted on the front door, the completed restaurant will have a maximum occupancy of 51 visitors. The Chipotle will occupy 2,800 square feet, in a stand-alone building.

While an opening timeline is not currently available, construction has visibly begun on the building and an official Chipotle sign is posted on the lawn. The restaurant will likely open its doors to customers in mid-to-late 2024.

Chipotle has seen considerable growth in the area recently. The popular chain opened a new location 8 miles from the impending Maple Wood Drive eatery only last month.

Chipotle has spread far and wide since its opening in 1993. Attracting fans with its assembly-line approach to American-Mexican cuisine, the brand currently has 3,381 locations across the United States.
