Greek-Inspired Seafood Spot to Open This Fall in Media

Maris will feature a raw bar, seafood towers, Greek-style cheesesteaks and cocktails.

A new Mediterranean-inspired seafood restaurant is set to make its debut this fall in Media.

Maris, meaning “of the sea,” is the latest venture from renowned restaurateur Loïc Barnieu. It will take over the former Two Fourteen space at 214 W. State St., The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Barnieu owns the Barnieu Restaurant Group, which operates Sterling Pig Brewery, according to his LinkedIn profile.

While elements of the former space, such as the bar, will remain, Maris will transform into a brighter, Greek-inspired spot featuring white, blue and floral pink accents.

The new restaurant will feature a raw bar with seafood towers and appetizers such as mixed olives, crab cakes, grilled octopus and an assortment of spreads served with pita and vegetables. Entrées will include grilled swordfish, tuna, steak and pasta dishes, along with a Greek-style cheesesteak and burger, the outlet reported.

Maris will also offer a curated cocktail and wine list, with draft and bottled beer selections from Sterling Pig.

The 2,000-square-foot space will seat 75 guests in the dining room, with additional seating at the bar. Maris plans to open in late October with dinner service only, adding lunch shortly after. For updates, visit the restaurant’s website.

With few Mediterranean options in Media, the neighborhood’s dining scene will continue to grow with Maris joining local favorites like Desert Rose and Yeeroh.
