A family-owned coffee shop is set to open its second Philadelphia location in the Callowhill neighborhood this winter.
HomeGrown215, owned by Jimmy Rossoni and his nephew Christian Sosani, will open at 1600 Callowhill St.
“We’ve been doing this a long time. We don’t like to rush things, so when the perfect opportunity presented itself, it was one of those things where you can’t say no. It’s everything we wanted, and we’re ready for it,” Rossoni told What Now Philadelphia.
The new location will serve as a grab-and-go hub, offering coffee and ready-to-eat items like chicken salad, BLTs, turkey clubs, parfaits and bagels with cream cheese.
“This location will be built for speed, trying to make things grease lightning–grab-and-go breakfast, grab-and-go lunch, full coffee line. We want to get people in and out as fast as possible with the option to sit and hang out as well,” Rossoni said.
The interior will feature a modern design with a touch of home.
“It’s very industrial. We have real brick. We got walls that are all concrete. We’ve got a column coming up through the middle that’s all cool-looking. It’s visually a blank canvas ready for us to do what we got to do,” he said.
HomeGrown215 has served the community for nearly a decade, opening its original location at 1515 Porter St. in 2017.
“We were born and raised here, right where our Porter St. location is. All our family lives here. We got about 15 to 20 cousins in a five block radius. I was born in Methodist hospital. I watched that building get built. It’s our logo. It’s homegrown,” he said.
Rossoni is excited to bring the energy of Porter St. to Callowhill.
“I can’t wait to see what happens–meet new people, new customers, new relationships. We can’t wait to get the coffee cranking out and see all the things that this location lays out in front of us. The customers and the staff, that’s the two most important things. Without those two ingredients, you don’t have anything,” he said.
HomeGrown215 will open in the first week of December, operating Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
