After many years of anticipation and delays, one of the nation’s top coffee chains is planting a new flag in Fishtown. Starbucks has signed a lease for a Frankford Avenue location, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The cafe will be opening on the ground floor of a mixed-use building, located at 1405 Frankford Avenue. The lease grants Starbucks 2,405 square feet for brewing the company’s signature coffee drinks and tasty treats.

Starbucks first began eyeing the Frankford Avenue space in 2018. The company faced push back from the local community and the Fishtown Neighbors Association petitioned the Philadelphia Zoning Board of Adjustment to refuse a special exception zoning permit for the site.

Starbucks will be entering a vivid and active coffee community. Fishtown hosts several roasters, including One Shot Coffee, Gryphon Cafe, and Gilda.

An opening timeline is not currently available for Fishtown’s latest Starbucks. However, since the lease has been signed, it is likely the storefront will open in early-to-mid 2025.
