The Point, a new restaurant and bar, will open this fall in Philadelphia’s Lawndale neighborhood.
Owned by Jeff and Steph Robinson, the venue will take over the space formerly occupied by the Old Mill Street Pub at 6700 Martins Mill Road.
“The restaurant is your classic beer-and-shot corner bar that kind of comes to a point at the intersection of Martins Mill Rd. and Unruh Ave.,” Robinson told What Now Philadelphia. “We’ve got a couple of little, cute taglines: ‘Get to the point,’ ‘What’s your point,’ ‘Meet me at the point,’ so we’re just kind of playing off that.”
The duo is revamping the spot and adding personal touches to bring it back to life.
“We’re putting some improvements in place: a lot of upgrades to the televisions, cleaning up the bathrooms, and improving the kitchen. It’s just a nice, warm, safe place for people to come and hang out,” he said.
While the food and drink menu is still in development, they plan to offer sandwiches, burgers, nachos and a curated cocktail program.
“I’m trying to come up with something unique that ties a dish to the restaurant bar. We’re probably leaning toward a nice roast beef sandwich because that seems to be lacking in the area, but that’s still to be determined. It could be chili, it could be soup—we just want to be known for something unique,” Robinson said.
The Point also plans to host events such as karaoke and ladies’ night, along with various giveaways for customers.
If permitting and construction stay on schedule, the bar aims to open on Thanksgiving Eve, one of the busiest nights of the year. Follow along on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
