New Checkers Locations Cooking into Philly this Autumn

Franchise heavy hitter Dinesh Goswami will be opening two locations over the next month.

North Philadelphia, get ready to welcome back an old favorite. Checkers is making a triumphant return to the region under a new franchisee later this year, reports the Philadelphia Business Journal.

Prolific franchisee Dinesh Goswami is reinvigorating the restaurant at 232-50 West Lehigh Avenue. Locals will be able to enjoy Checkers’ signature fare soon; Goswami has confirmed with What Now Philadelphia that the storefront is set to reopen on October 22.

The West Lehigh Avenue location is part of the brand’s opening salvo towards Philly domination. Checkers plans to reopen at least five of 13 shut-down locations, First on deck for Goswami and the Checkers team is a store at 4813-23 Lancaster Avenue, which is slated to open by next Friday.

Goswami already has a relationship and proven history with the Checkers brand; the restaurateur opened his first location in 2023, and has opened 4 additional storefronts in the interim.  

Goswami brings a wealth of franchise experience to the table; the entrepreneur also owns and operates stores with Taco Bell, Popeyes, and Pizza Hut. Goswami isn’t content to only serve delicious food; he is ensuring Checkers becomes an essential part of the Philadelphia community by offering meals and resources to those in need.
