A new venue is in the early stages of development in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse neighborhood.

Simon Atiya, co-owner of Giovanni’s Bar & Grill on Chestnut Street, recently acquired the property at 222 S. 15th St. He told What Now Philadelphia the new spot will be a “separate venture.”

Giovanni’s has been a neighborhood staple since 2003. The family-owned restaurant is run by Atiya and his brothers.

He said the property caught his interest because of its prime location.

“Giovanni’s Bar & Grill is in the same neighborhood. I love my neighborhood. I love the people here and I want to continue being here and being a part of the neighborhood,” Atiya said.

The concept is still underway.

“I don’t have a concept yet. The idea is to do a dual concept at some point, but there is no official menu idea yet. We’re just in the beginning stages of everything, so we won’t be ready for a while,” Atiya said.

More details about the new spot will be updated as they become available.

Rittenhouse offers a mix of upscale restaurants, casual cafes and trendy bars. The neighborhood draws locals and visitors with diverse cuisine, from Italian and American to international flavors. Outdoor seating around the square adds to its lively atmosphere.
