When one beloved neighborhood bar in Kensington closes, another opens. The Cormorant, a concept from the prolific hospitality group the Vintage Syndicate, is opening in the old home of Bob’s Happy Hour Tavern next year, reports The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The building, located at 2301 Frankford Avenue, filed for a liquor license in June. The Vintage Syndicate is aiming to open the Cormorant in late spring of 2024. The hospitality group is not currently revealing many details about the new restaurant, however the building has been undergoing renovations to prepare it to welcome new visitors.
The Vintage Syndicate’s history and roster bodes well for the forthcoming bar. The hospitality group has spearheaded several beloved Philadelphia establishments, including Time, The Goat Rittenhouse, Garage, Heritage, and Starbolt. The conglomerate also plans to launch a new concept called ILU later in 2024.
While future regulars need to wait a bit longer for the precise details and nature of The Cormorant, a spokesperson stated that the new restaurant will “bring something that’s missing to the neighborhood.”
