The iconic NYC speakeasy Newsroom has made its first expansion move, and it is in Philadelphia. Following its popularity in NYC, the speakeasy has taken its experience one step further in this new location. Taking over the busy Northern Liberties, the speakeasy has already earned quite a reputation.

Hidden behind a vintage Diet 7UP vending machine on Germantown Avenue. The stunning decor, mouthwatering cuisine, and attractive cocktails sell the idea of a hidden gem discovered. Meanwhile, the live entertainment keeps visitors swaying all night long.

But the attraction doesn’t end here. Newsroom Philly isn’t just a second outpost, it redefines the brand with a distinctly bold identity.

Best of Newsroom Philly

This debut expansion spares no detail: a discreet hallway, red velvet drapes, and a brooding atmosphere reveal a hidden realm.

Once guests slip past the machine and stroll down the hallway, a large space of 2,000 square feet opens up in front of them. Spanning 2,000 square feet with seating for around 60+ guests, visitors are left awestruck by the speakeasy. Moving on, the floor‑to‑ceiling shelves packed with genuine, upcycled books, the giant art installations, paintings, and more come into view. After the stunning décor, the next treat comes when the menu is handed over.

Unforgettable Mouthwatering Fusion Menu

Showcasing Chef Nobuhiro Hamazaki’s signature Japanese‑Latin fusion, the menu is just as incredible as the speakeasy itself. Reflecting his Tokyo-meets-Philadelphia inspiration, it becomes more than a hidden gem. Standout dishes include wagyu gyoza, spicy tuna crispy rice, yellowtail tiradito, and Churrasco Steak.

Equally impressive is the cocktail program: inventive drinks that spark conversation. Presenting the perfect blends, these are something that visitors often leave talking about.

Vibes from NYC

Newsroom NYC was certainly one of Rose Hospitality’s most successful projects. The iconic speakeasy not only brought vintage 1920s vibes to the city but also garnered immense praise from locals, media, and critics.

Now, the Newsroom occupies two of the six concept spots of Rose Hospitality. Newsroom NYC focuses on Latin‑European fusion, while Philly leans into Japanese‑Latin flavors. From NYC to Philly, the speakeasy has certainly made many heads turn, and this is only the beginning.
