A well-known New Jersey diner has a new owner.
Chef Diego Sanchez is now leading OB Diner at 1519 Richmond Ave. in Point Pleasant, according to News12.
Chef Sanchez told the outlet he plans to preserve the diner’s classics while adding new favorites. The menu will feature Wagyu meatloaf, made-to-order fried chicken, disco fries and three soups daily.
The chef is no stranger to diners, owning two others in the area: 39 Degrees North in Manahawkin and At The Point Diner, just down the road from OB Diner in Point Pleasant.
Before starting his culinary journey in New Jersey, Chef Sanchez came to the United States from Peru in 1999, building a career in fine dining and international hospitality, PurpleJam! reported.
He worked alongside world-class chefs including Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Marc Forgione and Diego Muñoz, and at the former La Mar Cebichería in New York under celebrated chef Gastón Acurio.
He later moved to Austin to serve as opening executive chef of Simi Estiatorio, earning recognition for Latin influences. He followed by launching Llama Kid, a modern Peruvian concept that evolved from a virtual restaurant into a brick-and-mortar in East Austin, serving contemporary cebiches and comfort dishes blending Texas ingredients with his roots.
The Jersey Shore landmark, closed for over a year, is set to reopen for early risers and night owls alike. It will operate daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., staying open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
OB Diner plans to welcome diners back for the upcoming Jersey Shore season.
