A popular neighborhood sports bar and restaurant is set to open a new location in Newtown.
P.J. Whelihan’s Pub + Restaurant will debut at The Village at Newtown, taking over the former Iron Hill Brewery location, according to a Facebook post.
“Let’s make it official. Right now it’s all dust and drills, but soon it’s crispy wings, cold beers, and a room full of fans who know where to be when the game’s on. Good times are getting an upgrade,” the post read.
P.J. Whelihan’s is known for its classic American sports bar menu centered on its signature wings, offered bone-in or boneless with sauces including Hot N’ Honey, its signature, alongside mild, hot, mango habanero, sweet chili, garlic parmesan, honey barbecue, scorpion, Flamin Pickleback and Korean BBQ.
The food lineup also features shareable starters like mozzarella sticks, loaded fries and buffalo chicken dip, along with burgers, cheesesteaks, wraps and tacos. Hearty entrees include ribs, fish and chips, salmon and crab cakes, while desserts lean indulgent with brownie and cookie skillet options.
To complement the menu, the bar offers craft, domestic and imported beers, along with a selection of wines. Signature cocktails include the “Pretty in Pink,” made with vodka, muddled mint, lemon, cucumber, strawberry mix and lemon garnish, as well as “Krushes” in flavors such as orange and blackberry.
Founded in 1983, the restaurant now operates 25 locations across Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Newtown outpost will expand its growing footprint.
An official opening date has not yet been announced, but construction is underway. For updates, visit the P.J. Whelihan’s Pub + Restaurant website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook.
