A trio of Philadelphia restaurateurs is gearing up to launch a new dining concept at the shore next year.
Gent Mema, Orbelin Bitraj and Joshua Friedberg are taking over the former Trio North Wildwood site at 700 New Jersey Ave., Mema confirmed in a phone call with What Now Philadelphia.
The group, known for their Italian-focused portfolio, operates Antica Italian Restaurant and Wine Bar, Granaio Italian Restaurant, The Library in Collegeville and Versante in Schwenksville.
Friedberg told Philadelphia Business Journal rising shore real estate values and growing demand for high-end dining drew the group to North Wildwood.
While an official name and menu have yet to be announced, many fans speculate the fare could lean Italian, given the group’s extensive experience with the cuisine. Trio North Wildwood previously served American dishes with a global twist, so the new concept might also draw on that approach.
Trio closed its doors on Aug. 31 after five seasons in business.
“We want to share some heartfelt news, Trio North Wildwood has been sold. To all of you who dined with us, shared a glass of wine, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and simple nights out—you became more than guests, you became family. And we are so grateful for every memory made together. Thank you for the love, the laughs, and the loyalty. It’s been an amazing ride,” the former restaurant shared via Facebook.
The comments were met with nostalgia, gratitude and sadness; however, a new chapter awaits as a new trio brings their culinary expertise to New Jersey.
The restaurateurs told the outlet they aim to launch their new concept by summer, just in time for the peak season.
