Zushi, the Philly-based sushi joint led by Chef Sam Yoon and restaurateur Tony Rim, recently signed a lease for a new outpost at Baederwood Shoppes on the Fairway in Jenkintown, according to leasing data confirmed by What Now Philadelphia.

A representative of Zushi did not immediately return a request for comment.

The inception of Zushi Philly, which bills itself as “much more than your typical sushi restaurant,” goes back to 2017 when Yoon and Rim realized “that Japanese cuisine could use an interesting twist.”

The result, Zushi, “is typically a deconstruction of sushi with a bed of buttered rice and fresh fish on top with a sprinkle of garnish,” according to the restaurant’s website

Aside from its eponymous menu item, the restaurant also serves a number of bowl options including teriyaki, yaki noodle, katsu, salad, and its signature Zushi poke bowls, all of which “caters to bustling workers who are constantly on-the-go,” but “shouldn’t have to sacrifice quality to get a quick meal.”

In addition to acting as CEO, founder, and owner of Zushi Philly, Rim is also responsible for The Foodery at Rittenhouse – which closed earlier this year – as well as the upscale 1225 Raw Sushi & Sake Lounge.
