The Cheesecake Lady is making a sweet return as new owners revive the brand
Philly Cheesecake Lady is now owned by Victoria Pickens, her fiancé, Galen Thomas, and business partner Donte Fassett. The shop is relocating from 910 Township Line Road in Elkins Park to 725 W. Avenue in Jenkintown.
“My fiancé is the owner of Cloud Cups Gelato in Philly as well, so we have a lot of experience in the dessert industry. We were already customers. He would buy cheesecakes to put in his gelatos,” Pickens told What Now Philadelphia.
She continued, “The opportunity presents itself, Vanessa [Jackson] offered to sell the business to us because she was retiring. She thought given the Cloud Cups brand, we would be a good fit to take over.”
Pickens said Jackson guided them through the process and taught them how to make the shop’s full lineup of cheesecakes.
“We have all the same flavors, same exact recipes. We didn’t change anything about her cheesecake recipe she taught us,” Pickens said. “We will have gelato flavors also available in Jenkintown. That will be a difference because she hadn’t sold the gelato in her store before.”
Philly Cheesecake Lady focuses on small-batch 4-inch mini cheesecakes and 2-inch babycakes.
Cheesecake flavors range from fruit options like peach, cherry, blueberry and pineapple to cake-inspired choices such as strawberry shortcake, red velvet, chocolate and birthday cake. The menu also features classic cheesecake, tiramisu, cookie dough, mint Oreo and sweet potato—Pickens’ favorite.
The shop’s interior will showcase a pink-and-tan palette, with Pickens choosing the tan to echo the look of a real cheesecake.
She said she’s looking forward to opening the doors.
“I’m excited to do something creative. I;m excited to meet new customers and keep providing them with good cheesecake. I’m in here baking cheesecake right now,” Pickens said.
