Pizzeria Cusumano is opening on 872 Haddon Ave. in Collingswood, NJ. Sal Cusumano, who is the third-generation owner of My Angelos Pizza in Voorhees and Berlin, plans to open his own shop according to a recent announcement. Whether doors will open in late 2021 or early 2022, Cusumano has declined to comment.
While My Angelos is known for serving traditional New York-style slices, Cusumano is ready to bring something different to the table. “There was something inside me that I wanted to do — something with pizza, but something that no one else is doing,” Cusumano says in a recent profile.
The road to deciding on what type of pizza will be served at his new venture was not an easy one. Cusumano enlisted the help of Gregorio Fierro, a renowned “pizza consultant” in the Philadelphia area. Fierro coached Cusumano on everything, from upgrading his mixer to changing his brand of flour.
It has been previously suggested that Pizzeria Cusumano will serve rectangular Detroit and Roman style pizzas, which vary in crust thickness. Cusumano is certain that this is what will make Pizzeria Cusumano stand out in an area where there certainly is no lack of options when it comes to pizza.
