A leading name in fast-casual chicken is turning its attention to Harrisburg this year. Raising Cane’s is hoping to open a new location at the Colonial Commons shopping center in Lower Paxton, reports local media outlet Penn Live.

The expanding chain has proposed the construction of a 3,089 square foot building located at 5050 Jonestown Road. If approved, the stand-alone restaurant will include a dual drive-thru. Raising Cane’s is currently working with Lower Paxton Township to finalize the land development plans.

Because Lower Paxton has not fully approved the proposal yet, it is impossible to estimate an opening date. Given that demolition will be required as well as construction, chicken fans will most likely have to wait until late 2024 to early 2025 to enjoy Raising Cane’s fare.

Since emerging on the fast-casual dining scene in Baton Rouge in 1996, Raising Cane’s has been a formidable presence in the chicken sector. The eatery established a solid fan base with its simple menu, which focuses on freshly prepared fried chicken, coleslaw, crinkle cut fries, Texas toast, and a signature dipping sauce. As of 2023, the chain has more than 700 global locations.
