The young brewing company is getting ready to open its first-ever expansion.
Rebel Hill Brewing Company is a 7 bbl brewhouse that has become essential to the Phoenixville beer scene since it opened in 2018. The company was founded by head brewer Greg Kluge, and specializes in IPAs, saisons, and stouts. Inspired by his father’s love of German imports, Greg was exposed to the world of craft beer at an early age and quickly developed a taste for high-quality craft beers. Greg began as a homebrewer, having taught himself over years of self-study and research, homebrewing for over 10 years before finally opening Rebel Hill in 2018.
Today, Rebel Hill is located on the outskirts of Phoenixville at 420 Schuylkill Road and serves an eclectic mix of beer styles for guests to enjoy. Their motto is “In Beer We Crush,” and every day the team endeavors to outperform themselves in the crushability of their beers. Now, after five years of successful operation on Schuylkill Road, Greg and his team will be significantly expanding their operation with a new taproom located closer to the center of town.
Rebel Hill’s newest expansion will see the brewery opening a new location at 240-242 Bridge Street. The new space will enable Rebel Hill to increase their production capacity with a brand new brewing system and canning line. The team is excited to be able to produce more of their beloved IPA’s and saisons, but they’re especially excited to be producing more crispy lagers, something they have been wanting to do for a long time.
The new taproom and brewery will be replacing Crowded Castle, another popular taproom and brewery that sadly close its doors for good last year. The new space will offer a significant upgrade to Rebel Hill, and features a brand new 10 bbl brewhouse with eight 10 bbl fermenters. The location also boasts a 16-person, 14-tap bar, and offers enough space to fit about 90 guests. Excitingly, Rebel Hill will also be utilizing the space to put together a full kitchen, creating fresh new dishes to match the quality of beer that fans have come to respect. Right now, the team hopes to have the new expansion operational by the end of the summer, and are planning to significantly increase their distribution throughout 2023.
