Starbucks Envisioned for East Stroudsburg Location

A coffee giant may soon help bring new life to a Smithfield Township vacant lot. Indispensable java mainstay Starbucks has been proposed as a new tenant for a burgeoning Route 209 retail development, reports local media outlet Pocono Record. 

If approved, the prospective cafe will be setting up shop near a confirmed Sheetz, located at the intersection of Route 209 and Route 447. The plans for the proposed shopping center call for 5.75 acres. Developers JSPA Realty, LLC, have applied for permits to demolish a Quality Inn hotel located on the parcel of land. 

According to plans submitted to the Smithfield Township Planning Commission, the potential Starbucks will feature a drive-thru. A McDonald’s, also featuring a drive-thru, has additionally been proposed, however neither chain has yet signed a lease.

The project is still in the highly preliminary stages, making it impossible to predict an opening timeline. The undertaking will be intensive, calling for alterations to roadways as well as land-development.
