A new restaurant, sports bar and live music venue is set to open in Downingtown, bringing a vibrant nightlife scene inspired by a lifelong dream and a grandparent’s influence.

The Borough, led by owners Keith Critchley and JT O’Brien, will open at 194 E. Lancaster Ave., taking over the former Giorgio’s Restaurant and Bar space.

“I always dreamt of having a bar. In 7th grade my grandparents owned a bar in Atlantic City. Before he [his grandfather] passed, he came up to me and said, ‘One day you got to own a bar, you’ll be really good at it.’ So, it stuck with me forever,” Critchley said in a video posted by realtor Matt Gorham.

The two-level venue will feature 400 seats, offering distinct experiences on each floor. The first level will have a lively sports bar atmosphere with more than 40 TVs and 20 taps, while the upstairs will serve as a concert hall for live music, complete with a full-service restaurant, sushi bar, indoor trees, water features and a selfie wall, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

“We’re working on some surprises,” Critchley said.

The Borough is booking acoustic artists, bands and DJs for its upstairs venue. The team is also hiring bartenders, servers, dishwashers, line cooks and a sushi chef. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through the restaurant’s website.

While an official opening date has not yet been announced, the website reads: “OPENING SOON.” For updates, follow along on Instagram and Facebook.

What Now Philadelphia reached out to The Borough team, however, they have not yet responded. This article may be updated.
