From seasoned pros to first-time swingers, golfers will soon have a new indoor spot in Wilmington, Delaware, complete with brews and bites.
The Clubhouse of Delaware, co-owned by Matt Piecara, Rick Knight and Enrico Giancroce, will open this summer at 401 S. Madison St. inside Penn Cinema Waterfront.
“Through market research, there is a lot of opportunity between corporate events down here; it’s so close to downtown Wilmington and the apartments that are there,” Piecara told What Now Philadelphia. “There’s a lack of entertainment venues in the area if you’re not going to a restaurant, bar or a movie, so we thought it was a good alternative.”
The roughly 8,000-square-foot facility will feature a restaurant, a bar and nine simulators. Each simulator bay will include a lounge-style setup with a couch and high-top tables behind it, giving guests space to enjoy shareable plates and fare. Each bay is designed to accommodate up to six players.
The Clubhouse will use a simulator system called Golfjoy, which blends simulated play to the green with putting on a real green in a single experience.
“The nice thing about Golfjoy simulators, they are the only ones in its class that offer a four-yard platform that you actually putt out in real time. There’s a cup that will open depending on where you are, and the platform will move to mimic undulations of whatever green you are on,” Piecara said.
Guests can bring their own golf clubs or rent them on-site.
Giancroce, who runs a catering business in Delaware County, will lead the food program. The menu will feature classic, elevated bar fare, including shareable plates, sandwiches and featured entrees. The bar will serve drinks designed to pair well with the food.
“Everything from the menu to the drinks has golf-inspired names. Everything’s going to be golf-themed. The goal is, we want it to feel like a world-class pro shop and restaurant when you walk in. Everything is surrounded by golf, but it’s also high-end,” he said.
Piecara said he and his team are excited to introduce the concept to the Wilmington waterfront.
“Just being able to bring the game to everybody of different levels–whether it’s advanced players that want to come in and work on their game, or it’s beginners that want to come in and get lessons and are just picking up the game–I’m excited to bring more opportunities to the area,” he said.
Renovations are set to begin April 1, with the team aiming to tee off in summer 2026. Visit The Clubhouse of Delaware website and follow them on Facebook for updates.
