The two incoming Mochi Ring Donut stores will debut separately at 1420-1422 NJ-70 Cherry Hill, NJ 08034 in the Pine Tree Plaza and 7040 Terminal Sq. Upper Darby. PA 19082. What Now Philly reached out to Owner Sungmin Jeong for comment and debut date details but did not receive immediate feedback.
According to leasing documents, the Cherry Hill location will require a full build-out which can take anywhere from two to six months to complete. In terms of the Upper Darby location, it seems the store is still currently an Emack & Bolio’s ice cream shop. What Now Philly was unable to reach the store for comment.
Sungmin Jeong opened Mochi Ring Donut in Eidson, NJ before branching the business further into the Pennsylvania and Jersey territories. Catapulted by the momentum of mochi — a Japanese rice cake made from glutinous rice — in all its forms, Mochi Ring Donut both capitalizes on the treat’s popularity and reconfigures the concept as its own. While Mochi Ring Donut offers standard selections, it also adorns its savory treats with unique additions, like french fries and ramen as toppings for their Korean rice dogs — sausage, mozzarella cheese, or a combination of the two skewered and coated in a sweet flour batter.
Mochi Ring Donut also offers bubble tea, a Taiwanese beverage that rose to fame in the ‘80s. The drink typically comes filled with chewy tapioca balls and sometimes other toppings.
A Conshohocken location — 101 Fayette St. Conshohocken, PA 19428 — and a Union, NJ store with a currently unknown address are still listed as Coming Soon on the company website.
