Benjamin Franklin is often misquoted as saying “Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy”. Though this particular quotation has been debunked, it cannot be denied that-Founding Father endorsement or no-the hoppy beverage brings plenty of delight to the over-21 set. Weyerbacher Brewing Co., a popular Lehigh Valley brewery, is about to ensure the region stays joyful by opening a third location, reports local media outlet WFMZ.
Allentown beer fans will be able to enjoy a cold brew at 448 North 17th Street, in the space that previously housed Pines Dinner Theater. A precise opening date is not yet available for Weyerbacher’s new home, however the company’s Facebook announcement about the taproom, posted on June 7, states that it intends to be serving customers this summer.
The timing couldn’t be better for Weyerbacher to realize its vision for its next location; the brewery’s newest incarnation will feature a biergarten alongside the taproom. The social media post offers an enticing peak at what’s in store, saying “We’re bringing bold brews, open-air vibes, and unforgettable experiences to the heart of Allentown! Get ready to raise a glass under the summer sky. Our newest Tap Room & Biergarten opens Summer 2025 at the Allentown Fairgrounds.”
Founded in Easton in 1995, Weyerbacher made a name (and a fan-base) for itself through its signature Belgian-style beers. The website explains that while this type of brew may have brought the brand success, the company is always innovating: “we have an extensive barrel aging program which produces fan favorites including Insanity and Riserva. In recent years, we’ve dipped our toes into IPAs and other lower ABV styles with great success.”
