Wife and husband-owned Michaux Brewing Co.’s incoming Waynesboro, PA brewery will be a place for friends, families, neighbors, and strangers to come together. Lauren and Dane Murray are planning a late May/early June opening for their taproom and production facility at 11657 Buchanan Trail East.

“I’m hoping people will see our vision of creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We want people to get that feeling of excitement and friendship that you often find within the craft industry, and we can’t wait to share that with our customers,” Dane Murray, who will serve as head brewer, told What Now Philadelphia.

Dane Murray and his wife, the primary owner, have been taking annual “beercations” visiting local and regional breweries across the mid-Atlantic and northeast ever since they were old enough to drink. Their love of craft beer inspired Dane Murray to start homebrewing about ten years ago. The couple decided to open a business and pursue their passion about two years ago.

“We were looking for a location for a while that had the ability to have both indoor and outdoor seating. We wanted something in our town and something that had an atmosphere that reflects the Michaux local state forest,” said Dane Murray, who has served as a health and physical education teacher for the last 14 years. “It’s an old log cabin with exposed chestnut logs on the inside. It has the rustic feel we were looking for.”

Michaux Brewing Co.’s 6,500 sq. ft. facility will boast a 2,300 sq. ft. taproom with seating for between 80 and 100 patrons. The brewery’s .4 acres of outdoor space will also have seating. You’ll find 12 taps at the bar, 10 for Michaux Brewing beer, and two for a guest cider and wine. They’ll also serve liquor. Dane Murray plans to brew a full realm of beers, including IPAs, sours, stouts, lagers, and pilsners. One of his most popular recipes is his “Skinny Juice,” a lower alcohol content (3.9 %) hazy IPA that’s packed with flavor but has a lower calorie count than your standard IPA. Michaux Brewing Co. will also have a full kitchen serving small shareable plates, tacos, flatbreads, and burgers.
