Since 1979, the Borenstein Family has been bringing a bit of the East Coast to Arizona. The family moved west at the end of the decade and brought with them family recipes from Queens, NY. The result? Chompie’s Bagel Factory. The original owners, Lou and Lovey Borenstein, have shared the business with their children, and Chompie’s has only grown. Today it serves breakfast all day, lunch, and dinner, and offers ‘authentic N.Y. style’ pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, matzo ball soup, and other delights.

With the closing and redevelopment of the Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix, Chompie’s has had to relocate its Phoenix restaurant. May 31st, 2021 was the last day Chompie’s served plates at its former location in the mall. But don’t worry, Chompie’s isn’t going far.

The diner’s new location is just a mile and a half down the road, adjacent to the corner of E Cactus Road and N 32nd Street. According to co-owner Mark Borenstein, “this new location will deliver an even bigger and better Chompie’s experience for the neighborhood for decades, and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been busy planning for the future of Chompie’s.”

Until it’s up and running, you have four other Chompie’s locations in the greater Phoenix area to pick from. We’re all looking forward to what Chompie’s will bring us next.
