El Jefe Tacos is opening a second location at 4923 E. Chandler Blvd. in the Ahwatukee neighborhood of southern Phoenix. The Mexican restaurant is to take over the former Qdoba that was at Suite 300. Owner Julio Rodriguez confirms that his second location is ready to open later this month.
Rodriguez opened his first brick and mortar, El Jefe Tacos & Sushi, in September of last year on University Drive in Tempe. Prior to this, his business gained traction at street fairs, festivals, and through catering services.
The restaurant has since seen growth in popularity, serving up a robust menu of tacos, burritos, sushi, and more. The second location will simply be known as El Jefe Tacos, as Rodriguez currently doesn’t intend to serve sushi there. Sure enough, customer favorites at the Tempe location include Street Tacos, Carne Asada, and Birria, so that’s what we can look forward to at the Ahwatukee outpost.
Southern Phoenix customers now don’t have to travel too far northeast to enjoy El Jefe Tacos once the second location opens its doors. Expect similar lunch to dinner hours, though it is subject to change. For more information visit www.eljefetacos.com.
