After losing a bid last year, Garrett Popcorn Shops is preparing to open a new location at 3400 Sky Harbor Boulevard in the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.
The company’s newest storefront is set to open in Terminal 4 in early 2025, according to a company representative. This will be the 17th overall location for Garrett Popcorn Shops, with additional airport sites in Chicago, Las Vegas, Dallas, Atlanta, and more. It’s unclear exactly when the company will open its new location at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport, but it will be operated by Garrett Popcorn Shops instead of the airport’s food-service company, HMSHost.
Garrett Popcorn Shops is based in Chicago and has over a dozen locations throughout Chicagoland. The company, founded by Gladys Otto Garrett in 1949, sells a handful of gourmet popcorn flavors, including Buttery, Nut CaramelCrisp, CheeseCorn, and CaramelCrisp. To get a taste of each flavor, the company offers a Hot Cocoa CarmelCrisp Mix, a 100% Chocolate CarmelCrisp, and Garrett Mix, which consists of the company’s world-famous cheddar and caramel popcorn mix. The new Phoenix airport location will allow travelers to try this delicious popcorn brand.
This is a significant achievement for the company, which had previously attempted to open a location at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport but lost that bid. The Phoenix City Council has unanimously approved the allocation of vacant pre-security restaurant space in Terminal 4, formerly occupied by three restaurants, to a new concept called Travel Treats & The Coca-Cola Lounge. Although Garrett Popcorn was not awarded the location, Sky Harbor staff indicated that they would continue to search for a new space for the brand.
