Pad Thai Café is opening at 18425 N. 51st Ave. in Glendale, according to a building permit filing with the City of Phoenix. Signs have gone up over the former Matty G’s spot at Suite I in the 51st & Union Hills Shopping Center across from Deer Valley High School.
Co-owner and Manager Matt Andres confirms that they will probably open around March 2022 at the latest. Andres explains that this is his first restaurant, and it is a joint business venture with his wife and another couple. The women in the group are from Thailand and are excited to bring genuine Thai cuisine to Arizona.
Pad Thai Café serves only genuine dishes to entice all Thai food lovers, using only the freshest ingredients and richest spices to bring out the best flavors. While Thai food is traditionally spicy, Pad Thai Café offers different degrees of seasoning in their recipes to satisfy all preferences. A varied selection of recipes assures there is always something for everyone.
Andres says, “We want to serve real, authentic Thai cuisine,” expressing that many Thai restaurants in America serve watered down versions of Thai dishes. The menu is still being developed but sneak peeks at dishes such as Short Rib Panang Curry suggest that diners are in for a real treat.
In addition to bona fide Thai food, they plan to serve beer and wine initially, but are thinking about developing Asian-inspired pre-made cocktails. However, there are no plans to install a full bar. Demo on the space is near complete and is getting ready for the remodel. Until then, stay tuned to Pad Thai Café’s Facebook and Instagram for updates. A full lunch menu will be served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., while dinner will be served nightly.
Correction: An earlier version of this article suggested the owners bought recipes from a Bangkok restaurant. As of publication, this is still being worked out.
