If you’ve been debating whether to plan a fun activity or simply grab some coffee with friends, PIP Coffee and Clay invites you to do both at the same time.

The combination clay studio and coffee shop allows guests to get creative and caffeinated at the same time with studio time, workshops, classes, and more. The Phoenix-based PIP, with a second location in Tempe, is planning to open a third studio at 6825 E. Valley Vista Lane in Chandler, converting a vintage 1930s home into a workable space. The new location is eyeing a March 2026 opening.

In 2021, graphics designers Mara Friedman and KC Bonnem opened PIP as a way to combine their love of ceramics and coffee. The community-focused studio became popular as a way for people to express their creativity in a welcoming space.

The studio provides pottery classes, wheel-throwing, and workshops on everything from creating a mug to making your own bong. There are also classes in embroidery, block printing, and a class called “Bowls, Bears, and Beer” where guests can eat Gummy Bears, drink craft brews, and make a decorative bowl.

PIP is also a full-service coffee shop, serving coffee, latttes, teas, cortados, and more. Signature drinks include the Cardi P, a pear, cardamom, and matcha beverage; and a rose and pistachio latte. PIP also offers a constantly changing selection of beer, wine, sake, and cocktails.
