Proper Eats recently signed a lease for a new restaurant space at 12814 N. 28th Drive in the Metro 28 shopping mall. Owner Lisa Baker confirmed that they hope to open by late December or early January if all goes according to plan.
The new location will undergo a partial build-out, including new flooring and installation of a new hood. On top of the renovations, Proper Eats is still planning out the menu for their new digs. Baker says that they are looking at a scaled down version of the original menu served at their Metro Parkway location, but for sure they want to serve wings, pizza, burgers, and hot dogs.
Unlike their first restaurant, this new one will be more of a fast-casual restaurant with counter service. When asked if they will implementing a full bar like at their original location, Baker says they will have to see what their regular patronage looks like when they finally open.
The original Proper Eats has been closed ever since Metro Parkway shut down due to a flood. Baker explains that on top of that, they were only in business for a few months before everything shut down when the pandemic started. She is hopeful that their new restaurant location will undo the series of unfortunate events that befell their brick and mortar over the past year and a half.
Proper Eats began as a catering business in 2015, serving schools and businesses across the Valley. They now deliver delicious meals to nine charter schools and will possibly begin serving office buildings again soon. Until then, they are hard at work getting the wheels turning on their new restaurant.
