Tacos & Craft, a full-service restaurant serving traditional Mexican cuisine with scratch-made tacos and craft beer, is opening a new location at The Trailhead Development at 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road.

The company’s second site is the first of two new tenants announced for the upcoming $100 million development, according to Axios. The other is Sparrow, a new American-themed concept from the creators of Squid Ink. Aldo Jaramillo and husband-and-wife team Parker and Emily Ganem expect to open the new Tacos & Craft and Sparrow, respectively, by the end of the year. The Trailhead will include a $65 million shopping center anchored by a 63,000-square-foot Safeway, a 350-unit multifamily complex, and more.

“We envision that development will become a neighborhood hub, with its bike- and pedestrian-friendly paths that connect seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhoods and the pristine Sunrise Mountain Preserve,” Peoria Mayor Jason Beck said in a press release. “At The Trailhead, they will be able to choose from various regional and local restaurants in nearly every food category.”

At the beginning of the month, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the mixed-use development, with Beck, Vice Mayor Jon Edwards, and other city and business officials in attendance. Pederson Group will develop, manage, and own the project, with Butler Design Group as the architect and Campbell Development as the contractor.

“Peoria is growing exponentially, yet residents have little access to retail outlets, and they often travel five miles or more for a quality dining experience,” said Jim Pederson, founder and chairman of Pederson Group. “At The Trailhead, they will be able to choose from a variety of regional and local restaurants in nearly every food category.”
