Co-Owners Kyle and Zabdi Hess are bringing Arizona’s “first candy store and bar” to Chandler. The Sugar Bar will take up residence at 960 E Warner Road # 6 in Corvocado Village, by August 2021.
“There’s a growing market for super different and weird-flavored beers,” Hess said when asked what inspired the bar-candy shop combo. The concept came naturally from noticing the up-tick in out-there flavored brews—you can even find skittles-flavored beer these days.
At The Sugar Bar, you’ll get to try curated flights of beer and wine paired with candy samples, as well as packaged desserts sourced from local bakeries.
If you’re not yet sold on the dessert or sour beer phenomenon, don’t worry. Yes, The Sugar Bar will focus on rare and hard to find beers with more unique flavor profiles like raspberry puree or coffee, cinnamon and maple, but it will also offer some more familiar brews, to ease you into the experience.
Still a few months out from opening day, Hess anticipates a 30 seat bar; the shop’s candy wall will stand opposite it. The bar will also feature beer and merchandise fridges for to-go sales and an Instagram wall decked out with bright colors and candy to inspire those postable moments.
“We’re aiming for an August 1 open date” Hess said, although that could be subject to change. Keep an eye on The Sugar Bar’s social media page for updates. As a lover of stouts and sweets, all I can say is, it’s about time somebody came up with this idea.
