A New Immersive Virtual Reality Experience Is Coming to Arizona this May

Sandbox VR is opening its first permanent location in Arizona. The venue will offer a group-based virtual reality experience designed for multiple players. The space will feature the brand’s latest adventures, including popular collaborations.

Sandbox VR is Opening its First Permanent Arizona Location

Arizona is set to get its first Sandbox VR, adding a new immersive entertainment option to the Gilbert area. The experience offers a full-body, immersive gaming experience that is ideal for friends, families, and teams looking for entertainment.

“We’ve been working hard to bring Sandbox VR to the Valley and are thrilled to finally welcome Arizonans to this next-level experience,” said Andrew Perkinson, Sandbox VR Gilbert co-franchisee. “Sandbox VR is the leader in immersive, social entertainment with its world-class technology, intuitive design, and cutting-edge experiences that are accessible to everyone. With the Arizona summer rapidly approaching, this will be the ultimate destination for friends, families, corporate teams and more to escape the heat.”

The expansion is led by franchisees Andrew Perkinson and Tylor Hardy, who bring their background in real estate and hospitality. The venue will open at SanTan Village in Gilbert on May 22, 2026, at 12 p.m.

Sandbox VR will operate Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to midnight. The venue is offering a 30% discount for guests who book online before opening day.

The venue is also holding a special VIP Grand Opening Preview celebration on May 21, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. During this event, guests can experience the features of the venue and dive into the world of virtual reality. During the event, guests will be able to preview the venue and try the virtual reality experience firsthand.

Features of the New Space

The new space spans over 4,000 square feet and includes four private VR rooms called holodecks. Each VR rooms accommodates 2-6 players. The location features a 1,000-square-foot patio for relaxing or hosting events like parties and corporate events.

Guests need to wear VR headsets, vests, and motion sensors to fully interact with the virtual world and each other. They can choose from 11 different experiences, including adventures with dinosaurs and zombie survival games. The venue also offers licensed experiences tied to franchises such as Stranger Things, Squid Game, and Rebel Moon.

Sandbox VR offers immersive, group-based virtual reality experiences. It uses full-body motion capture and haptic technology to create a highly realistic and interactive group experience. This has made it widely popular, with the brand operating over 70 locations worldwide.
